Continuously creating international music is the Alternative Rock band “Tilly Birds” from the GeneLab label, a subsidiary of GMM MUSIC. After releasing “White Pills“, the first single from an international album, not long ago, the three young men, Third (lead singer), Billy (guitar), and Milo (drums) have released a second single called ‘Retro-39‘, a Synth-Pop song mixed with Indie Rock with a bright sound.
Tilly Birds aims to enter the international music market with the band’s goal that began with the first dream of playing music all over the world. Through ‘Retro-39’, which will take everyone back in time to the time they miss. The song talks about trying to escape the memories with the old person.
The band describes this song as… “This is the first song that the band wrote lyrics specifically about an object. We want to convey the emotions of someone who is trying to detox themselves from social media so that they won’t see his image. So they come back to listen to music through a shoebox tape player full of memories (the Retro-39 machine). But deep down, they secretly hope that he will come back. And we will be able to record the feelings and love of both of them on this recorder. That’s the origin of the song’s name.”
The story in the music video is also full of cute retro gimmicks, interspersed with many pop culture references from movies and music.
Jointly directed by Third, the lead singer, and Cehadoo Hoo, who both previously directed the music video for the song “Can’t Keep Up” and the Retro-39, the pair conveyed the story of a man who is “too dumb to let go.” He wants to let go of the memories and feelings he has for his ex-girlfriend, with the help of the band Tilly Birds.
Third roughly defined the meaning of the song and the MV as “If we can’t move on, then go all the way.”
